About Kevin

Key Experiences

From a Law student to a career in Sales & Marketing programme
Whilst I loved studying law, a career in that sector didn't appeal to me. The training, development and exposure to different aspects of the world of marketing really attracted me to apply for the Jameson Graduate Programme. My degree in law allowed me to hone a particular set of analytical skills, that I feel have helped me somewhat to this new role. Despite this, I'm fully aware that I have lots more to learn, and this greatly excites me.

Current Position

I'm working on the recruitment team of the Jameson Graduate Programme
Since August 2017, I've been working as the Jameson International Graduate Programme team, focusing on talent attraction. For this role, I have managed many careers fairs, created social media content, and connected with numerous 'on-brand' student societies as we push to attract the best possible applicants for the 2018 International Programme in-take. I've thoroughly enjoyed this role so far, and have been exposed to many different aspects of the business, which has been a real eye-opener for me. I've benefited from the training given by the rest of the team, who've provided me with as much support as possible, and I feel that the skills I'm learning will stand to me as I progress through the programme.

Main Motivations

Being exposed to so many facets of the business
Working within the Irish Distillers Head Office in Simmonscourt has allowed me to learn so much about the business, even outside of my direct role within the Jameson Graduate Programme. From attending meetings discussing the global Jameson marketing strategy with the rest of the Market Activation Team (MAT) to understanding the important role that Jameson and film plays in activating our brand world-wide, I've no doubt that these experiences will help me in my aspirations to go out to the field as a Jameson International Brand Ambassador in the future. Even within my direct remit, I've learned so much about social media strategy and project managing large-scale events.

Top Advice

Be yourself and do your research!
It may sound a bit cliché, but being yourself throughout the entire application process is crucial to landing the job. If you are a genuinely good fit for the role, the recruitment team will undoubtedly recognise this. However, it also doesn't hurt to do some research on the core values of the organisation that you are applying for, as this will give you a better understanding on whether your own values are in line with theirs. From personal experience, I found that reaching out to a person already working with that company is a great way to do this.

Greatest Achievement

I project managed the Jameson Graduate Programme Campus Roadshow 2017
Despite only being a few weeks into my role, I was tasked with project managing the Campus Roadshow 2017, the main way in which we attract potential candidates to apply for our programme. This included designing our stand, managing the content creation on the graduate programme social media accounts and leveraging the relationships I had built with members of the wider International Marketing Team (IMT) as a means of getting colleagues to help out at the fairs. Overall, we attended over 15 careers fairs, met over 5,000 students and saw 4.7k people visit our website over the course of the 4 week period. It really was a massive success, and something I'm very proud of.
